Southeast PDP Leaders Meeting In Enugu Over Atiku’s Nomination Of Obi
- It Is Atiku’s Right To Pick Running Mate – Obaze
Southeast Peoples Democratic Party, PDP leaders are at this moment meeting in Enugu to reconsider their support for Atiku Abubakar after alleging that they were humiliated by his refusal to consult them before picking Peter Obi as his running mate.
The leaders allege that Atiku took them for granted by refusing to consult with them before he made the announcement.
Their claim has, however, been dismissed by the Mr. Oseloka Obaze, the PDP governorship candidate in the 2017 election.
Mr. Obaze in a statement yesterday said:
“I’m astounded by the marginal dissension within the ranks of Igbo political leaders over the selection of Peter Obi. I ask Ndiigbo, how do we explain this malign attitude, when the rest of Nigeria have accepted our sons, but we seek to tag him an unacceptable outcast.
“Leaders of the southeast should rally behind the Atiku-Obi ticket in our collective interest. It was and remains Atiku Abubakar’s prerogative to pick his running mate without zonal consultations. Precedents abound.”
