Humbled Ambode Reaches Out To Fellow APC Governors At Fayemi’s Inauguration

In a departure from his past detachment from the affairs of his fellow governors in the Southwest, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State on Tuesday made a conspicuous appearance at the inauguration of Dr. Kayode Fayemi as governor of Ekiti State.

Governor Ambode was not at the All Progressives Congress, APC campaign flag-off in Ekiti attended by many governors. He was also not at that in Ondo State.

At the peak of his problems with Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, his fellow governors from the region had refused to intercede on his behalf on the claim that Ambode was detached to their own interests. The governor had to resort to Northern governors like Mallam Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State to mobilise support for him from the presidency.

“We are not concerned about him, he can swim in his own stool for all we care. When we did flag-off in Ekiti he was not there. When we did the same in Ondo he was not there. Even people closer to Asiwaju who were not happy with us sent support to us quietly, but we did not hear anything from Ambode, so he can as well swim in his own stool,” a senior political operative in Ondo State said on the basis of anonymity.
