Fayose Gets N50 Million Bail

Immediate past governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose was on Wednesday granted bail by a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos.

As condition for the bail, Fayose is to provide a surety who must provide a bail bond of N50 million and possess three years tax receipt.

Justice Mojisola Olatoregun who is hearing the 11-count charge of conspiracy and money laundering amounting to N2.2 billion leveled against the former governor by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC rejected the plea of his counsel, Mr. Kanu Agabi, SAN to grant bail to Fayose in self recognizance.

Mr. Agabi said Fayose submitted himself willingly to the commission. His plea was, however, opposed by the EFCC’s counsel who said that Fayose came with hoodlums on the day he submitted himself.
