Scam Marriages: Ooni Counsels Young Lady Against His Impersonators

The Ooni of Ife has cautioned female members of the public against being scammed for marriage by men posing as the Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II.

The warning was conveyed in a press statement issued by Moses Olafare, the director of media and public affairs in the palace of the Ooni of Ife.

The warning followed a distress message on facebook by one Elizabeth Odunlami who is believed to be based in the United States. Odunlami in a message on facebook accused the Ooni of jilting her after promising marriage to her and even getting the approval of his spiritualists.

In her message on facebook, she said:

“As a matter of fact, you promised me to be your next queen before Naomi, whenever i asked you if you have someone, you were always in denial. On certainty, you told me that all your so-called spiritualists positively accepted me as your new queen…”

The palace of the Ooni of Ife was quick to respond to the allegation on Wednesday saying:

“The attention of The Palace Of Ooni Of Ife has been drawn to a news of one Elizabeth Odunlami(miss) claiming to have been jilted by someone believed to be The Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II.

“While we sympatize with Miss Elizabeth Odunlami(if the identity is real) who obviously has become a victim of a fraudlent act perpetrated by a scammer disguising to be Ooni Ogunwusi, we find it pertinent to debunk this sacrilegious and unfounded allegation  which is not unlikely to be another calculated ploy adopted by some unprovoked detractors using psseudo-identities.

“Good members of the public especially ladies are hereby cautioned against communicating with anyone presenting himself to be the Ooni Ogunwusi and swiftly report such a matter or person to the relevant security agencies.”
