Edo APC: PDP Recruiting Thugs From Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers For Election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State on Saturday accused the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP of desperation and resorting to self-help in going to recruit thugs to achieve its purposes in the forthcoming General Election.

A similar allegation raised by the APC against the PDP during the 2016 governorship election had named Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of the neighbouring Delta State of mobilizing thugs to influence the election in the favour of the PDP.

This time the APC was silent on any involvement of the governor but escalated the recruitment spread to Bayelsa and Rivers States, all states presently controlled by the PDP.

The APC in a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary of the Edo State chapter of the APC, Mr. Chris Azebamwan, alleged that the PDP had decided to stage the kind of anarchy that characterized the last presidential election in Venezuela.

“It is an avenue for Nigerians to align with the drive to stamp out corruption from our political culture.

“The PDP must not be given the platform to resume their nefarious activities and the looting of our common heritage.”

A response from the PDP spokesman, Mr. Chris Nehikhare is still being awaited.
