Speaker Contest: Faleke Put To Task On His Loyalty To His Northern Kith and Kin

James Faleke the Kogi State born member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives was on Tuesday put to task on his loyalty to his kith and kin in the North-Central Zone after he made a strong denunciation of the zone’s aspiration for the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Faleke who nurtured his political prowess under the aegis of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu having served as a local government chairman, and third term member of the House of Representatives is, however, from Kogi State in North-Central Nigeria. In 2015 he was running mate to the All Progressives Congress, APC governorship candidate, Abubakar Audu, but was outwitted in the power tussle after Aso Rock stepped in to tilt the game in favour of Yahaya Bello.

Appearing on Channels Television Sunrise programme on Tuesday morning he flayed the surging bid by the North Central for the speakership.

According to him it was untenable for the North to have the president, Senate President, and Speaker of the House. He said the country must respect the balancing of power between North and South.

The moderator of the session, Maupe Ogun-Yusuf, interjecting asked him on his loyalty given his particular circumstances of having tried to be deputy governor and governor of Kogi State recently.

“Southwest developed me politically and exported me to the North-Central,” he said.

“If you have the president from the north, then automatically the vice-president comes from the south. Now our party has agreed that the Senate President should go to the North, so you cant have everything from north, north, north.”

Faleke who canvassed the aspiration of Femi Gbajabiamila also dismissed the demand by the Southeast for the Speaker during the programme.
