Uduaghan, Associates React To Attack by former trusted ally, Funkekeme Solomon

Friends and former aides of Emmanuel Uduaghan, the immediate past  governor of Delta State have taken to social media to react to alleged insults hauled on him by a former trusted aide, Funkekeme Solomon.

Solomon who served as Uduaghan’s commissioner for works and one of his trusted aides was director general of the Ifeanyi Okowa Re-Election Governorship  Campaign. At the height of the campaign for the election which was won massively by Okowa, the incumbent governor, Solomon had accused his former boss, Uduaghan of colluding with other All Progressives Congress, APC chieftains to instigate a reign of terror on the state.

He had specifically accused Uduaghan of do-or-die politicking and  being “bent on turning Delta State into theatre of War and unleash  potential orgy of blood bath in Delta State.”

Responding to the comments against him on his Facebook page, Uduaghan said: “My brother, my friend, my former Commissioner for Works, Funkekeme  Solomon, I celebrate you today and always.

“The anti-Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan virus has bitten you. Thought you will be the last person to manifest the symptoms. I was wrong.

“As an inner caucus member of my team for over 14 years, I know you are well aware of my commitment and dedication to promoting peace. In and out of Government I will continue to do so. I have always preached against election violence.

“You and I prepared for, executed and won several elections. Did we ever budget for thuggery? Did we ever buy guns or military uniforms?

“I just contested for Senate in our Senatorial District. Were you told I used military uniforms or guns, or even any other weapon?

“The APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomole, and I have never been known to be violent people. We know those who have history of cultism and violence.

“I pray you to get what you have been promised, which has pushed you to raise the false alarm against us. Many who travelled this route are getting disappointed as they are coming out empty handed. “Please pray very hard to drop the “hate spirit”. Take care and remember always, “Back tyre nor dey overtake front tyre.”

Dr. Uduaghan’s affirmation has, however, drawn mixed reactions from his social media friends. While some flayed Solomon for betraying a man he followed for 14  years, others were quick to hit at Uduaghan for being unrealistic noting that he could not have entered the political arena to expect a  gentle handshake.

“I am disappointed at Funkekeme Solomon’s reckless statement,” Nick  Ovuakporie, director of communications of the APC in Delta State wrote in his reaction.

“It’s absurd for anyone to insult his boss because of politics. Even if you are in a different political party with your boss, that shouldn’t make you become arrogant to him. Life is transient oo  Funkekeme Solomon. This same man you will still need and fall back on because you are from same Delta South. It’s painful seeing one’s subordinate becoming so unruly. Time will tell,” Ovuakporie added.

A friend of Uduaghan was, however, quick to give him the unsolicited advice: “If Uduaghan thinks the attack on his person will stop then he might just be dreaming. You are in opposition act like one, match words for words, no one has monopoly of stupidity.”
