BREAKING: Court Stops Nwoko, Regina Daniels’ Husband From Senate
Senator Peter Nwaoboshi bounced back to political reckoning on Thursday after the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja set aside the April 3, 2019 judgment of the Federal High Court, Abuja that invalidated his February election for a second term as senator representing Delta North Senatorial District.
In a unanimous judgment, the three-man panel of the appellate court affirmed that the Federal High Court lacked the jurisdiction to consider the case brought by Ned Nwoko.
The Federal High Court had held that Nwoko and not Nwaoboshi was the winner of the internal election of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and ruled that Nwaoboshi’s name should not be published as the winner of the election.
Upon that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC had recently given Nwoko, the certificate of return.
However, ruling on the appeal on Thursday in a unanimous judgment delivered by Justice Mohammed Idris, the appeal court affirmed that the lower court should not have heard the case as it was already status barred.
Besides basking in the victory given to him by the Federal High Court in April, Nwoko had also lately been in the news upon his marriage to teenage actress, Regina Daniels.
