BREAKING: Workers Mount Barricade Against Gwarzo’s Return To SEC

Mounir Gwarzo, the suspended director-general of the Stock Exchange Commission, SEC who allegedly paid himself N105 million severance package after he was appointed the DG of the commission was on Monday being blocked from returning to the office by aggrieved staff of the commission.

Gwarzo who had been charged by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, ICPC for other sundry offences was, however, last Thursday cleared by the National Industrial Court, NIC which ordered that he should immediately return to office.

However, staff of the commission on Monday morning in revolt blocked entrances to the commission’s headquarters in the Central Business District area of Abuja. The staff carried placards to protest the return of Gwarzo.

The revolt GreenWhiteGreen learnt is being led by the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, SEC Branch. Officials of the union it was gathered locked up the main gates purportedly to prevent Gwarzo from entering the premises.

Gwarzo was suspended by the erstwhile minister of finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun upon the report of an administrative panel she constituted led by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Mahmoud Isa-Dutse.

Besides, he was also indicted by a panel of the House of Representatives Committee which investigated the faceoff between him and Mrs. Adeosun.

SEC is the country’s apex regulatory body of the capital market in the country playing the same role that the Central Bank of Nigeria plays in the money market.
