Atiku Bagudu has taken ownership of the Femi Gbajabiamila speakership project describing it as “our project.”

The Kebbi State governor spoke at the weekend when he received the pair of Gbajabiamila and Idris Wase who are running as a team of Speaker and Deputy Speaker in the Kebbi State Government Lodge in Abuja at the weekend. The pair were reportedly escorted by as many as 150 members-elect according to the campaign manager, Abdulmumin Jibrin.

“Femi and Wase project is our project,” he said.

Giving reason for the support, the governor said: “The grace with which you accepted the result four years ago. We need the necessary paradigm shift that can move the country in the right direction. That’s not difficult to achieve if the right persons are in leadership positions.”

Speaking on their mission, Jibrin said: “‎We have 150 members-elect delegation here today. Our choice for Speaker/Deputy Speaker are eminently qualified as experienced public servants and lawmakers.

“They are known for uprightness, integrity and as team players poised for the needed reforms in the 9th Assembly. We come here to seek your blessings.

“We know you as a silent achiever who gets things done without saying much.‎ We are sure of your support by 11 June.”

In his own remarks, Gbajabiamila said: “our mission is to formally seek your support in the contest for the 9th House leadership.

“My Deputy and I come with thirty years of experience in the most critical arm of government, the legislature even as the arm is yet to fully understand the extent of its powers.

“Each of the 360 members bring something to the table, which have not been done over the years. That’s what Wase and I intend to do. We promise sound and virile legislation for the development of Nigeria.
