Senator Chimaroke Nnamani has vowed not to engage in a superiority tussle with Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State who he on Sunday profusely thanked for reviving his political life.

Nnamani’s surrender to Ugwuanyi is a complete departure from his volatile political engagements with his handpicked successor, Sullivan Chime.

“I am grateful to my governor for the opportunity to rejig my political career,” the former governor said ahead of his inauguration on Tuesday as senator representing Enugu East. His election as senator-elect was upon the strong support he got from Governor Ugwuanyi.

“I owe him a lot of gratitude for the opportunity to serve my father land. I restate my respect and loyalty to him as my political leader,” the first Fourth Republic governor of Enugu State who established the Ebeano Political family that produced Chime, Ugwuanyi, Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu among others.

Affirming that he would not in any way contend with Ugwuanyi as to the political leadership of the state, Senator Nnamani said:

“Governor Ugwuanyi is the political leader in practice and head of the Ebeano political family in Enugu State.”

While enjoining political leaders of the state to rally round Ugwuanyi, he also praised other political leaders of the state including Ekweremadu, Senator Ken Nnamani, Senator Jim Nwobodo, Senator Fidelis Okoro , Dr. Okwy Nwodo, Ohanaeze President, John Nwodo, among others.

It would be recalled that following his exit from office as governor in 2007 that Nnamani and Chime engaged in a tempestuous quarrel that forced Nnamani out of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
