Lawan Emerges Senate President As PDP Senators Buckle

Senator Ahmad Lawan trumped Senator Ali Ndume to emerge President of the Senate on Tuesday when he polled 79 votes to the 28 votes cast for Ndume.

The development showed that the majority of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP senators did not vote for Ndume as the party had instructed.

There are 44 PDP senators. One source claimed that Lawan was helped by the strong support from Senator David Mark who it is claimed even though not in the Senate had thrown his strong support for Lawan.
