Why Herdsman Chopped Off Fiancee’s Head In Ekiti

A herdsman beheaded his fiancée in Ilasa-Ekiti East on Wednesday following disagreements over the concretization of their marriage.

The victim had been betrothed to the assailant from their early days according to their common custom it was learnt. However, the victim and her family had begun to have second thoughts following the herdsman’s alleged drunkenness and use of drugs.

The sad incident it was gathered happened at a stream where the victim had gone to fetch water with her sister. The assailant had appeared with a cutlass and quickly completely chopped off the head of his fiancée and taken to his heels.

The sister of the victim, however, reported the incident and a search was conducted following which the assailant was apprehended and was on Wednesday night in police custody.

It was revealed that the assailant had asked the victim to spend the recent Sallah holidays with him but she had demurred, a development that it was said further widened the bridge between the two suitors.
