Uncertainty continues to reign in Akwa Ibom State over who would get the ministerial slot in the state among four persons now being projected in the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The five said to be in consideration according to reliable sources are the immediate past governor of the state, Senator Godswill Akpabio, Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang, Umana Okon Umana, Senator James Akpanudoedehe and Dr. Maurice Ebong.

While the nation waits for the president’s final list there is the suggestion that the president could go out of the list and insist on Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, the former minister of National Planning.

However, multiple sources say that Udoma may have put himself out of consideration for another term.

If the president insists on Udoma returning to the cabinet or Akpabio is not considered to be a minister, it is generally suggested that he could then be compensated with an ambassadorial position.

While it is severally suggested that he remains the most favourite in the ranking of party members for the ministerial position, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP averred that that was the reason for the deluge of sponsored publications meant to smear him.

A source also alluded that Akpabio could also cause a cataclysmic political shift in the future if the smear continues and he is given a position of reckoning in the new dispensation and possibly returning to the PDP.

“I foresee Akpabio returning to the PDP if he is not given the ministerial appointment. When I ponder on his words that he did not defect to the APC, that he only moved like a man that his house is flooded with water.

“What that simply means is that if the flooded house dries up he will return to his house, if the APC fails to consider him for appointment he will return to his former party, the PDP and I know that he will be received back by PDP”
