Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has dismissed claims that the missing N6.8 million in Kano Zoo was carted away by a gorilla. The governor has also opened up on his relationship with the emir of Kano saying on Tuesday that discussions towards reconciliation were still ongoing.

The governor spoke to State House correspondents in the Presidential Villa.

Alleging that it was not possible for a gorilla to have carted away the N6.8 million realized by the zoo,  the governor said it was improbable as there was no gorilla in the zoo.

“You know l already directed the anti- corruption agency in Kano to wade into the issue and they are still investigating.

“But all l can say now is that preliminary reports indicate that there was armed robbery at the zoo, and not the issue of gorilla. This is because there is even no Gorilla in that zoo. We are told that there was an armed robbery incidence in which the entire Safe at the zoo was carted away.”

Asked if he was surprised that the zoo officials kept that huge amount in the zoo, he said, “Well the outcome of the investigation will let us know what actually happened, but l am sure that there is something wrong anyway.”

He also said that talks towards resolving the lingering issue between him and Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II were onoing even as he shoved off questions on alleged plans by his administration to depose the emir.
