Obaseki Sustains Political Cordiality At Mrs. Ize-Iyamu’s Birthday
By Ayodele Oluwafemi
In a move that is bound to further upset his former political patrons, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has further reached out to his Peoples Democratic Party, PDP governorship rival in 2016 with his presence at the wife’s 50th birthday service.
Obaseki graced the service for Prof. Mrs. Idia Ize-Iyamu held at the Abundant Life Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Benin.
The service was attended by several political actors including 2019 PDP vice-presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi.
The governor described Mrs. Ize-Iyamu as a “celebrated professor and woman of repute.”
“It is a golden age and she is a woman of
immeasurable value not just to her husband and family but to her community. She
is a religious woman and I celebrate with her, wish her well and wish her more
opportunities to contribute to our society,” the governor
said.
The governor since coming to power has maintained a dignified, brotherly poise in relating with his opponents, courting those within his party and outside. He similarly attended the birthday activity of Chief Gabriel Igbinendion, a chieftain of the PDP who was hounded by the previous administration.
