Passionate pleas from one Afeez Imran for more time to treat his impotence was waved aside on Wednesday by a Customary Court in Iseyin, Oyo State which went ahead to sanction his wife’s petition for the dissolution of their five year marriage.

Imran’s wife, Abibat Imran had petitioned the court that her husband’s partial impotence had turned into full impotence bringing her to the point of frustration where she is unable to have children. She told the court that she was determined that a capable man to satisfy her sexual needs.

Abibat had petitioned the court in December, 2018 for the dissolution of the marriage on the point of lack of sexual fulfilment.

“We have been together for five years. Before now, he could still perform just that we can’t make babies, but now he can’t do anything at all,” she told the court presided over by Chief Adelodun Raheem.

“I have really suffered in silence and now, I have to move on with my life and the first step is for him to make way for a capable person who can make me a mother,” Abibat who remarked that she had already packed out of their matrimonial home disclosed.

Afeez who pleaded with the court to plead with his wife for more time to treat his situation said:

“I want this court to appeal to her as I have spent so much on fixing this problem, I do not want her to go, please help plead to her.”

However, in the face of her insistence, he submitted that the wife should return his belongings she moved when she was moving out of the house.

“But if she insist on the dissolution, then she should bring back some of my belongings that she packed along with her own when she was leaving,” he said.

The court, however, did not heed his pleas for the sustenance of the marriage. The court was particularly not pleased that he did not come early to defend the petition when the hearing was on.

In that light the president of the court dissolved the marriage upon the claim that the love between both parties had broken down irretrievably.
