NDDC Bemoans Sabotage
The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC has bemoaned what it at the
weekend said were sabotage attacks directed at derailing it from delivering on
its goals by those determined to immediately replace the immediate interim management.
The managing director
of the intervention agency, Prof. Nelson Brambraifa in a statement at the weekend alleged
that stakeholders within and outside the NDDC had been trying to take
opportunity of ongoing audit of the agency to input negative impressions about
the management.
GWG had in the past reported on a probe of the agency by the NDDC. https://gwg.ng/2019/06/27/fraud-efcc-seals-nddc-account/
In a statement issued by his media assistant, Tamuno Nancy-Stephens Ijaopo, he said:
“We are aware of sinister plots by very desperate collaborators within and outside NDDC to criminalize and displace the current Interim Management Board because our stance against the old perfidious style of handling contract payments denies them continuous corrupt enrichment.
“The intent of the ongoing hideous campaigns is to thoroughly ridicule the image of Prof Brambaifa in order to stop him at all cost from continuing delivery on core mandate for which the Commission was originally set up. Sponsored protests, attacks and insidious publications being carefully choreographed to distract and bully the current Board will certainly fall like a pack of cards._
“Ordinarily, internal and external audit of the Commission should not raise hoopla as the most vital ingredient for effective service delivery remains accountability and transparency. In 18 years of the Commission, never has there been a Board or Management that was not given blanket judgements of impropriety.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Prof Nelson Brambaifa operates an open-door policy and the people of the Niger Delta region are proud of the achievements of the Board under his watch since it was inaugurated some five months ago.”
