Patience Jonathan Permanently Forfeits N12 Billion To FG
The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Monday ordered erstwhile First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan to forfeit the sum of N12.224 billion to the Federal Government.
The court order given by Justice Mojisola Olatogregun was upon the application of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC that the funds were proceeds of crime.
The forfeited funds consist of N9.2bn and $8.4m that were recovered from her.

Justice Mojisola Olatoregun ordered that the funds should be forfeited to the Federal Government.
Mrs. Jonathan’s lawyer, Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN had argued that the funds were genuinely earned but the court ruled otherwise and ordered the permanent forfeiture to the Federal Government.
