AFCON: Nigeria Shames South Africa Again
An 89th-minute goal by William Troost-Ekong via a Simon Moses corner was all it took to take the Eagles through.
Nigeria took the lead in the 27th minute through a Samuel Chukwueze with an assist from Alex Iwobi.
South African equalized in the 71st minute after Odion Ighalo brush passed through to South Africa’s Bongani Zungu. The goal which was earlier flagged offside was restored through the intervention of VAR.
The hope of South Africa was, however, shattered with the late goal by Ekong.
It is the third time that Nigeria is meeting South African in AFCON with Nigeria winning all three encounters.
