The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP gubernatorial primary in Bayelsa State was on Thursday taking a new shape after two close associates of the outgoing governor picked the party’s nomination forms.

The two are the outgoing governor, Rear Admiral John Jonah and the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Kemela Okara. Another close associate of Governor Serikae Dickson, Rep. Fred Agbedi, a former chairman of  the state chapter of the party had earlier picked his form on Tuesday.

Governor Dickson had a few days ago said that his Restoration Caucus would produce only one aspirant in order to give it a competitive advantage entering into the PDP primary.

Dickson’s Restoration Caucus is faced with the prospect of a heavy confrontation with Timi Alaibe who sources say has been mending fences within and outside the Bayelsa chapter of the party to give the governor’s camp a good run.

GWG could not as at filing in this report fathom the reason behind the present disparate moves by otherwise strong associates of the governor.

The development is coming as there is increasing talk in Yenogoa and Abuja of moves to shift the PDP primary away from the  state capital to Port Harcourt.

One source disclosed that former First Lady Patience Jonathan is among those behind the move which is aimed at crippling the logistic or whatever advantages that Governor Dickson may have.

The former First Lady and Governor Dickson had been on opposite sides of the PDP family since the governor’s first term when she was believed to have initiated moves to stop him from a second term.

The former political suave former First Lady is said to be still hiding her hands as to who she is backing.
