Following the failure of successive People’s Democratic Party (PDP) led administrations to provide infrastructural development to Adonte Community in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State, the people of the community have resolved to shut all politicians from the area ahead of the next set of elections.

For more than twenty years Adonte Community has been governed by the PDP like most other towns and villages, but this rural community feels it has received the short end of the stick despite its consistent support for the PDP.

“We have consistently voted PDP in Adonte Community and driven away other political parties including APC where our own son, Chief Ndudi Adolue contested for the position of Vice Chairman in the local government,” Chief Adenzi Chuckwalla said.

“But all these we have been doing brought shame to our Community with nothing to write home about in the a of infrastructural development and even appointment.”

Investigation revealed that the community cannot boast of even a police post, even in the face of the inseucrity that has come from herdsmen, kidnappers and cult related activities.

The only primary and secondary schools that were built in 1980 through communal efforts, are at present near dilapidation.

Teachers are also often quick to reject posting to the schools because of the lack of infrastructure in the community.

The only government owned Primary health care center in the town that has only one nurse, is only good in paint and lacks drugs.

The access road to the village from Ogwashi Uku enroute Asaba portends death traps for its residents.

“We will not talk of voting come 2023 elections because we are not recognized by the PDP. We are suffering here and we are only begging God to come to our aid’, Chief Godwin Egode, a leader in the community said.

The immediate past governor of the state, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan who held sway for eight years was reported to have promised to transform the community during a campaign visit but did nothing.

The incumbent commissioner for works, Chief James Auguoye has, however, promised to draw the attention of the incumbent state governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to the condition of the people.

If he does and there is a response, the people’s rejection of government and the political parties may well abide.
