ALGERIA VS NIGERIA: Head To Head

Ahead of the 20:00 CAT clash between former champions of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON), Algeria and Nigeria, we will look at the Head-to-Head between the two teams.

 It’s not been too smooth a ride for both sides en route to the Semi-finals.

Algeria had the more smooth ride unless for a penalty shootout against Ivory Coast which they won 4-3 after a draw in normal regulation time.

Nigeria, on the other hand have had a tougher competition. First there was a players’ strike on wages, then losing to Madagascar which set a fixture with Cameroon who they beat narrowly. Nigeria also beat South Africa, a bitter foe by the skin of the teeth. When they thought it was going to get easier Algeria was presented. Will they scale this hurdle?

Head to Head

The two sides have faced each other in the last 3 years where Nigeria won once and a draw coming out of the other one. They also met in 2010 where Nigeria won by a goal.

Both teams have met 19 times, Nigeria won 8 times, Algeria winning 7 and 4 draws between them.
