Wike Sacks Rivers State University VC, Deputy, Orders Halt Of Employment Exercise

Governor Nyesom Wiki has sacked the vice-chancellor of the Rivers State University, Prof. Blessing Didia alongside the deputy vice-chancellor, administration, Prof. Magnus Oruwari.
Accordingly, Governor Wike has also approved the appointment of Professor Opuenebo B. Owei, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) as the Acting Vice Chancellor of the university.
The action taken in his position as visitor to the university was communicated in a press statement issued by Dagogo Hart, the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Education.
No reason was given for the action but it was gathered that the action may have been connected with the ongoing employment exercise in the institution.
The statement also ordered an immediate halt to the employment exercise.
“Furthermore, a committee has been set up to investigate the employment exercise and report to the Rivers State Governor in two weeks,” the statement added.
Prof. Didia took office as vice-chancellor of the university in August 2015.
