The 17 Bauchi State legislators who recently renounced the oath of office taken have been served a seven-day ultimatum to return to the House of Assembly failing which a recall process would be initiated against them.

The threat to the Kawuwa Damina led faction of the House was served by Bauchi Assembly Youths Political Actors (BAYOPA) which said that the action of the lawmakers had become a clog in the wheel of the progress of the state.

Addressing newsmen on Sunday, the group’s Central Coordinator Hashim Pali vowed to mobilize the constituencies of the 17 members for a recall process if they fail to re-join other members of the House of Assembly in the next 7 days for legislative business.

Faulting the renouncement of the 17 Bauchi law makers, Pali described the decision as unfortunate, unreasonable and anti-people, noting that the aggrieved law makers did not engage their constituents before taking the decision.

“We condemn in the strongest possible terms the unfortunate, unreasonable anti-people decision by some members of the House led by Kawuwa Damina in renouncing the truce they had some weeks ago which resulted in their inauguration.

“These two-faced people who were guests to the President last week, went and presented a rather defeatist, self-serving and democratically dangerous position to him as far as the interest of Bauchi State is concerned.

“Bauchi State and its development is the issue of concern to our people, hence it is a greater interest that must prevail. It is against this background that we are using this avenue to serve a 7 days warning to them to rescind their lastest decision on the issue or we shall mobilize our people to proceed with a recall process against them.”

“Their actions are slowing the pace of development of our dear State. We hope that these members will heed our warning and do the right thing else we will be forced to recall them.”
