Ekweremadu: Four Attackers Identified By German Police
By Augustine Adah
Ring leaders of the attack on erstwhile Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu have been identified but their identity will not be disclosed following the decision of the Bavaria State police in Germany to investigate the incident.
An official of the Ministry of
Foreign
Affairs in
Abuja said that the Bavaria state police have analysed the attack videos and
identified four of the suspected attackers.
“I cannot reveal their identities for now because the German authorities are
now co-operating with us and investigating the attack,” the official told The Cable, a Nigerian based news website.
Ekweremadu was attacked by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, in Nuremberg, Germany when he honoured an invitation by ‘Ndigbo Germany’.
The leader of the group, Nnamdi Kanu who was helped out of detention by Ekweremadu and other Igbo leaders in his reaction believed that Ekweremadu’s case was a warning to all Igbo leaders in the south-east zone.
The attack has been
generally condemned and the Ibo community in Germany has since apologized to
Ekweremadu over the incident.
