RCCG FCT Joins Poverty Eradication Programmes To Christians, Muslims

Beneficiaries of the just concluded free Capacity Development and Skills acquisition training put together by the Redeemed Christian Church of God, FCT 3 Provincial Headquarters, Nyanya, Abuja have commended the Church for the gesture.

In all, about one thousand residents of the Federal Capital Territory benefited from the training, the second of it embarked upon by the church as contributions towards raising standard of living of the people.

The beneficiaries including Christians and Muslims learnt various vocational works including Phone and Computer repairs, Shoe and Hats Making as well as Catering and Tailoring within two weeks.

The Christian Social Responsibility Coordinator SRC, of the Church, Pastor Moses Olumodeji said the move by the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG Green Pasture, Nyanya, Abuja was to alleviate poverty among Nigerians through empowerment programmes.

He said the training was conducted to address restiveness among Youths in Abuja.

“What led to this programme was to engage youths irrespective of religious and denominations for them to be self reliant,” he explained.

Pastor Olumodeji said that Skill acquisition when properly directed has great impact on the Church and the society at large.

The CRS Coordinator said:

“Some of them are graduates, looking for white collar jobs but nothing to show, and now becoming burdens to Church and Society with no jobs to cater for their needs and the society.”

The Pastor in Charge, RCCG FCT 3, Pastor Titus Adedoyin graced the occasion where he urged the trainees to put the knowledge acquired to judicious use.

Former Minister of Education, Mrs Oby Ezekwesili, wife of the Assistant Pastor, CSR, Pastor Chinedu Ezekwesili delivered a lecture on the benefits of human capacity building.

Some beneficiaries of the programme expressed Optimism that Knowledge they acquired would help them to become self dependents.

They expressed hope that the knowledge gained would help them engage in good businesses and thereby make legitimate money.

Some of the instructors including, Mr Damilola Odewunmi, Mrs Bola Balogun and Miss Happiness Nwali said if the trainees put the ideas gained at the Workshop into use, it would help and lift them above poverty line.

Highpoints of the event were the presentation of loans and Certificate to Participants.
