There were indications that the Governor Serikae Dickson’s led Restoration Caucus may have decided on Senator Douye Diri as the preferred aspirant in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP’s governorship primaries on Tuesday.

The indication to this came in the wake of a gale of endorsements for the legislator across the eight local government areas of the state as several caucuses led by sitting legislators endorsed the legislator as the next governor of Bayelsa State.

Meanwhile as the endorsements spread across the state, rivals sought to push him down with claims of a blood relationship between him and the outgoing governor.

Yenagoa Youth leaders deny endorsing Douye Diri

PDP youth leaders in Yenagoa LGA have refuted reports making rounds that stakeholders of the area have pitched their tent with Diri.

Speaking on behalf of other youth leaders, Comrade Ineife Perekosufa, called on Yenagoa delegates to vote for what is best for the Yenagoa people and PDP and not to be deceived by few individuals who are more interested in their personal gains and pride.

The Youth leader described the purported endorsement as laughable, noting that such endorsements do not have any effect on the delegates, and does not represent the desire of the PDP family in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa state.

Maclver Denies Stepping Down

Meanwhile, one of the contenders, Great Joshua MacIver has said that he has not stepped down and will never step down from the race for anyone.

Speaking at his residence in Yenagoa, Great Joshua assured his supporters that he is so much in the race and going about with last-minute consultations with the delegates who he said will deliver him in the primary.

He further assured supporters to be optimistic of victory while finally charging the leadership of PDP to be straightforward with the system to ensure its transparency.
