Despite the xenophobic tendencies of the South Africans to them, many Nigerians in the former apartheid enclave prefer to remain in that country, President Muhammadu Buhari’s Special adviser on political matters, Senator Babafemi Ojudu has said.

Ojudu who is presently in South Africa said that his observation of Nigerians in that country showed an unwillingness to return despite home despite the free travel provisions made by Air Peace.

In a positing on his Instagram page at the weekend, Ojudu said:

“I have heard of the plan by Air Peace to go to SA and evacuate Nigerians. Like seriously?

“This shows a lack of understanding of the situation down here. “I am here in SA. I am not sure Nigerians here are in a hurry to leave. I am also not sure many see the need to leave. I visited a hospital here today and met many Nigerian doctor and health workers.

“They are busy carrying out their legitimate duties. I was in Mandela Square and was served at a restaurant by two Nigerians, they didn’t express any anxiety and neither did they feel under any pressure to flee SA.”
