SENATOR  James Manager has said that he will defeat former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan even if the election for the Delta South Senatorial district is repeated 50 times.

Manager who was the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP was reacting to the court judgment that upheld claims by Dr. Uduaghan that the February 2019 election was marred by irregularities.

Uduaghan who won two terms in office on the platform of the PDP, however, defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC last year on whose platform he contested the Senate election against Manager.

Former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan through his lawyer, Thomson Okpoko, had approached the tribunal seeking the nullification of the election over gross electoral malpractice during the February 23 poll.

Expressing confidence of winning in the event of a rerun, Senator Manager who disclosed that he will be appealing the ruling, said: “I have being studying the judgement of the Election Petition Tribunal with my legal team. I have also read the reaction from Dr. Emma Uduaghan.

“I want to firstly thank my dear people of Delta South senatorial district for your show of solidarity, affection, goodwill and support at this time as always.

“I am in a small corner laughing and I remain unperturbed. This judgment is certainly a miscarriage of justice and truly the tribunal erred in all fronts.

“We will definitely appeal the judgment. I want to urge my supporters to remain calm and patient for the outcome of our appeal for this is just a temporary setback.

“Going forward, Dr. Emma Uduaghan is well aware that if the election is conducted 50 times I will emerge victorious. Thank you and may Almighty God bless you all. We will triumph.”

Neither Manager nor Uduaghan had before 2019vilost in an election until Manager defeated Uduaghan in the Senate election.

Ahead of the 2019 election, the former governor pulled away to the APC on whose platform he eventually contested the election that was returned in favour of Manager and the PDP by the electoral authorities.
