Kowa Party has appointed a 25-year old female legal practitioner, Adebanke Ilori, as its Acting National Publicity Secretary.

Mark Adebayo, the National Chairman of the party, announced this in a statement on Monday in Abuja.

Adebayo said that Adebanke would serve in that capacity until a substantive publicity secretary was elected at the party’s forthcoming national convention.

He, however, charged Ilori to discharge her responsibilities as the party’s national spokesperson to the best of her abilities.

He said: “We promise the cooperation and support of all the members of the Party.”

News Agency of Nigeria reports that Prof. Oluremi Sonaiya, the party’s presidential candidate in the 2015 elections, also confirmed the appointment via her twitter handle @oluremisonaiya.

She stated that she was confident that Adebanke’s appointment was a positive development for the party.

“Congratulations, Banke. We are confident that your appointment is a positive development for our Party. You have much to offer. Be assured of our support,” she tweeted.

Ilori is a lawyer and the Executive Director of Raising New Voices Initiative, an non-government organisation, working on youth representation in governance.

She is an alumnus of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

Ilori’s six years work and volunteer experience span across public interest litigation, corporate law, development and inclusive governance.

The former Secretary of the National Youth Caucus joined the party in 2015.
