Miyetti Allah Faults Amnesty Plans For Bandits
By Ayodele Oluwafemi
Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeder Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has faulted the plan to grant amnesty to bandits, noting that criminals must serve jail term or life sentence.
This was made known by the Bauchi State Secretary of Miyetti Allah, Sadiq Ibrahim Ahmad, while addressing newsmen after a stakeholder meeting with the Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, over the weekend.
Sadiq noted that government should allowed bandits to serve jail term, adding that it would serve as deterrent to others, saying that “Government should allow the law to have its full cause. Let them serve their jail term, even if it is life sentence. They are bad eggs.”
According to him, “It is very disheartening to see those who had been previously arrested by Police on streets without proper trial. These are people who are robbing people, kidnapping for ransom and killing –and at the end of it, you are granting them amnesty, for what?”
He further faulted the arrest of herders by some police officers, who were mistaken as killer herdsmen.
On his part, CP Habu Sank charged members of Miyetti Allah to be wary of those they accommodate as visitors and report those who are suspected of crime to Police, noting that their input would assist in community policing.
CP Sani further urged traditional leaders to sensitise their communities to be security conscious.
