$9.6bn Court judgment: Senate Summons AGF

The Senate has summoned the Attorney General of the Federation, AGF, and

Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, over the $9.6bn awarded to P&ID against the Nigerian government in a failed contract between the oil and gas company and the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources in 2010.

The resolution was made on Tuesday, sequel to a motion raised by Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District of Ekiti State.

Moving the motion, Senator Bamidele prayed the AGF, and other relevant Stakes holders in the Petroleum resources ministry to appear before the Upper Chamber and deliver a comprehensive details of the 2010 contract.

Meanwhile, Senator Bassey Albert of Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial district seconded the motion, noting that the AGF must inform the Senate about the way forward in the judgment against Nigeria.

However, Solomon Olamilaken, Senator representing Lagos West, and Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, in separate contributions, supported the invitation extended to Attorney General of the Federation, AGF and other stakeholders to the Senate.
