A foremost former militant leader in Bayelsa State, Comrade Eris Paul popularly known as General Ogunboss has cautioned state and national leaders of the All Progressive Congress APC against under-estimating the People’s Democratic Party PDP and Governor Seriake Dickson ahead of the November 16th Gvernorship election in the state.

Ogunboss warned that victory in a governorship election goes beyond wide acceptance of the party’s governorship flag bearer, Chief David Lyon but the need for early preparation, hard work, campaigns and setting up of structures from the units, wards and state levels.

Ogunboss, who is a chieftain of the APC in Peremabiri area of Southern Ijaw Local Government Council of the State, warned that though the APC may have recorded the needed followership, acceptance by the people and the continued political mistakes of the PDP with controversies on how the flagbearer and running mates emerged, the APC must not sit back and believe they have won the elections before the state gets to the poll.

He said ‘I am shocked when some party faithful claim that we have the crowd, the numbers and even the publicity is on our side. But that does not get the job done. The might, the crowd, the number and media publicity are good designs. A good design in politics is a great combination of common sense, but not enough to say you have already arrived

‘Yes, you have the chances and opportunity that are knocking on our door as APC, but the most common way people give out their chances is by thinking they have arrived when they have not. Elections are won by structures not by number of decampees. The same way theatres & actors were required for the creation of the world, so are structures required to win an governorship election. A stich in time saves Nine’.

Ogunboss also called on the Chief Diekevie Ikiogha Committee on peace and reconciliation to reach out to known party chieftains that may have become aggrieved before and after the governorship primaries of the party to sheath their swords and work for the victory of the Party in the November 16th Governorship poll in the state.
