Gunmen Abduct Bayelsa Commissioner’s Father

The security situation in Bayelsa State was again brought to bear on Thursday after armed gunmen abducted the father of the State Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Doodei Week.

Chief George Agbabou Week was kidnapped in the early hours of Thursday from his home at Ayama-Ijaw in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the state.

No news has so far been heard from the gunmen as at filing this report. The incident happened just days after gunmen invaded the State House of Assembly on Monday and disrupted the sitting of the State House of Assembly.

Before then there had been repeated cases of abduction one of the most recent being the two-month abduction of Nigeria’s former football coach, Samson Siasia.
