Stakeholders in the All Progressive Congress, APC in Bayelsa State have lampooned an alleged covert plot to expel the immediate past Minister of State for Agriculture, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri and his supporters over his resort to the courts following the disputed governorship primaries.

The stakeholders warned that the action will only cause more problems for the party ahead of the November 16th Governorship election.

Honorable Sunday Frank-Okputu, a chieftain of the APC and a one-time State Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council IPAC, said the power to expel does not lie with a divided executive of the party in the state, calling on ‘the supporters of the party and Bayelsa people to disregard the claim that the party is out to expel Senator Lokpobiri and others.’

On the possibility of the Reconciliation and Peace Committee headed by former Commissioner, Chief Diekevie Ikiogha to bring together aggrieved factions in the party, Honorable Frank-Okputu dismissed the committee as being dead on arrival.

According to him, ‘ the reconciliation committee is a kangaroo one adding that If they are talking of reconciliation, Chief Sylva should reconcile with the people of Nembe Bassambiri as the PDP and APC members in the area have been rendered homeless.

He said Chief Sylva should also reconcile those rendered homeless in Okpoama and other areas of the State.

On the comment attributed to the National Chairman of the APC over the assured victory of the party on November 16th, Honorable Frank-Okputu described the statement as ‘misguided’ and ‘lack indebt knowledge’ of the politics of the State.
