Despite assertions to the contrary, Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State is coming under intense pressure, as some of his key allies resign from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), sequel to what some have tagged as his disregard for due process and fraudulent internal democracy.

GWG can confirm that no fewer than 12 of his cabinet level appointees have left the PDP in the wake of the primaries that produced Senator Douyle Diri as the party’s governorship candidate.

There are also fears that many more would follow.

Those who have left are Former Deputy governor, Ebebi Peremobowei; Commissioner for Mineral Resources, Makson Feyegha; former Special Adviser and commissioner, Alamene Williams; and SA Urban Security, Evarada Abednego.

Others are SA Conflict Resolution, Timipa Nimigbe; SA Political Matters, Stephen Diver; SA ICT Development, Lawrence Ebele; SA Agriculture, Godspower Ake; SA Student Affairs, Tony Ipogi; SA Community Development, Ombu Napoleon; Director for Ethics and Compliance, Ben Ogbura and Ward 2 chairman, Eberemo Local Council, Berry Negerese.

Dickson decided to take the political risk to sponsor his candidate for the governorship spot against the choice of the party, for self preservation

purposes. His Man Friday who became candidate was Senator Douy Diri, while many in the party mainstream wanted forever aspirant, Timi Alaibe.

Party sources hinted that Dickson’s calculation is to have his man in Government House and at the same time pick up the Senate seat expected to be vacated by Diri’s running mate if he wins.

GWG gathered that for weeks top brass of the party, including two former presidents, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan and Dr. Olusegun Obasanjo; and Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers appealed to Dickson to allow the people’s will prevail and not impose anyone.

Sources also hinted that Dickson allegedly wooed the PDP chairman, Uche Secondus to help him in the script.

Now, most of those who are leaving the party in droves, have vowed to teach Dickson a political lesson of his life by throwing their weight behind the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), David Lyon whose profile is rising fast.

Many of them have now gone to the field with the singular determination to humiliate the outgoing governor.
