Ohanaeze Youths Want Osinbajo To Extend Trader Moni To Victims Of Onitsha Fire

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has appealed to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to extend the Trader Moni Scheme to the victims of Onitsha market Inferno to serve as palliative measures to the traders.

Ohaneze Youth also urged the Federal Governments to direct the Bank of Industry, BOI, to give soft loans to the traders that lost their goods in the Onitsha market Inferno, while urging well-meaning individuals to show philanthropic gestures to the traders.

The group, in a statement, on Thursday, jointly signed by its President-General,  Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro and Secretary General, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike noted it had written to international economic bodies on the need for timely intervention on the poor state of the Onitsha fire victims and the need for humanitarian assistance.

Commenting on the current state of the Enugu Airport, the group disclosed that it is monitoring the progress of the rehabilitation of the Airport and reasons for the extension of opening stated by the Minister of Aviation, Hon Hadi Sirika, while noting that it would give the minister the benefit of doubt.

According to the Ohanaeze Youths, “We urge Igbo to exercise patience till the New date of reopening of the Akanu ibiam Int’l airport for Easter celebration of April 2020, assured them that the palliative care and measures of South East Governors through Engr Chris Okoye’s Committee will ensure tight security throughout the Xmas festival from Sam Mbakwe Int’l Cargo Airport Owerri Imo State to their destinations.

“We Commend the President Muhammadu Buhari on the closure of the land borders to help local producers and farmers and also addressing the incessant crime committed through our land borders, this had encourage the local production of Rice in every part of Nigeria especially the famous production of Abakilki Ebonyi State Rice, but call on our neighbouring countries to put up strict rules and regulations across the borders to enable the federal Government rescind it’s decision on Border closure, as no Nation closes her borders indefinitely, we urge the Government to negotiate through its agencies with our neighbours agencies so to re open the closed borders before the Xmas festival season.”
