Lagos House Puts More Heat On Ambode, Issues Five Hot Queries

For the second time in as many weeks, the Lagos State House of Assembly has invited the immediate past governor of the state, Akiwunmi Ambode to appear before it.

This time, the invitation was made in some national newspapers with the former governor being asked to respond to five major issues.

The summon on the former governor follows his failure to honour an earlier invitation extended to him and some of his former commissioners. Some of the former commissioners honoured the invitation during which issues mainly relating to finance matters during the Ambode administration were raised.

Ambode who is the third governor of the state since 1999 is the first to be so called upon to respond to issues during his administration. He is also the only one of the three former governors to be rejected by the party leadership in the state for a second term.

The five issues posed for Ambode in the newspaper advertisements are

“(1) Unauthorised discounting of promissory note; (2) Purchase of 820 buses by his administration without due authorisation; (3) Misappropriation of Special Expenditure Funds; (4) Improper implementation of the Appropriation Law; and (5) Non-adherence to the Financial Regulations of the state”.

He was told to honour the summons so as to clear the air on the issues.

He was told to respond to the issues in 15 copies to be delivered to the Clerk of the House on or before Tuesday, October 29, 2019.
