FIRS Begins Probe Into Fire Incident At Abuja Office
The Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, has disclosed that it has commenced an investigation into the cause of the fire incident that broke out at its annex office in Abuja.
The fire incident which occurred on Saturday was said to have started at the store just beside the staff canteen of the service.
The Head, Communications and Servicom Department, of the FIRS, said the cause of the fire is being investigated.
He said, “There was a fire incident at the store, by Federal Inland Revenue Service canteen located at Annex 1, office of the Service headquarters, on Saturday, 26th, October 2019.
“The fire affected the store by the FIRS canteen where disused and old computers awaiting disposal are often kept.
“Also burnt were envelopes, printing paper and stationeries. The FIRS hereby assures the general public that nothing critical to FIRS operations was affected.”
Gbadamosi said officials of the Federal Capital Territory Fire Service arrived the scene a couple of minutes after the fire began and worked with Security and Safety officers of the FIRS, to put out the fire immediately.
He said the Executive Chairman, FIRS, Mr. Tunde Fowler, had visited the scene of the fire incident for first-hand assessment.
“Officials of the FCT Fire Service Department visited the scene again on Monday to ascertain the cause of the fire incident.
“The Fire Service Department is continuing with investigation to ascertain the cause of the fire incident,” he added.
