Observing, that nobody from Anambra South has successfully served as governor of Anambra State for two terms, the Anambra State Equity Alliance ANSEA, has vowed to deploy its energies towards ensuring that the next governor of the state comes from the zone.

Inaugurating the Aguata Local Government Area executive of the group at the weekend, ANSEA said that it would be the height of injustice for Anambra South Senatorial Zone to be denied the chance to producing the next governor of the state.

Previous governors of Anambra State from Anambra South include Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife, Dr. Chinweoke Mbadinuju, Senator Andy Uba and Dame Virgy Etiaba.

The other senatorial zones in the state according to the group have between them shared 19 years of 11 years and 8 years.

Zonal Coordinator of ANSEA, Chief Ikechukwu Emelike who spoke during the occasion told Green White Green, GWG, that they have resolved to produce the next Governor of the State from Anambra South irrespective of obstacles that may be on the way even from the political parties.

Emelike appealed for support form the people of the state irrespective of party affiliation, saying that the mission of the group is to promote peace, equity, justice and fairness.

For thoae who may not know, the former Governors Peter Obi and Senator Chris Ngige from Anambra Central  governed the state for a total of eleven years, Anambra North under Governor Willie Obiano is on the verge of  finishing eight years in office, but barely nine years was sprinkled on former governors, Chukwuemeka Ezeife, Chinweoke Mbadinuju, Andy Ubah and Dame Virgy Etiaba.”

“Equity therefore, demands that no other zone in the State should pose as an obstacle to Anambra South from having the slot this time around.”

The Anambea State Chairman of ANSEA Chief Chukwunenye Adigwe, who is from Anambra Central, who is also backing the initiative for the next governor of the state to come from Anambra South said the move would promote equity.

“It would be unfair for any other zone in the State to rise against the demand of Anambra South, and we state categorically and also warn that any members of ANSEA against the South producing the next governor of the state is engaging in sabotage in the pursuit of the objective.

“While we throw our weight for your demands to have the next governor of the state come from your zone, we call on the people of Anambra South to work diligently and be result-oriented in all you do to ensue the goal is achieved.

A political stalwart from the area Mr. Chigozie Attuenyi said that “what the struggle demanded was for everybody to make a frantic effort and bring in other progressives to join the struggle and success will be achieved”

State woman leader of the ANSEA, Chinelo Ezeokafor said she would go all out to gather over 10,000 women for the group’s next meeting as a starting point.

A 22 man executive was inaugurated to pilot the affairs of the association in the Local Government Area and five executive members were also appointed for each of the 20 wards in the Local Government Area.
