EFCC Boss Magu Mute On Tinubu’s….

Ibrahim Magu, the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Friday, clearly refused to respond to a question seeking an update on a petition submitted against the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, Daily Independent has reported.

An activist, Deji Adeyanju recently submitted a petition to the anti-graft agency against Tinubu for allegedly keeping two cash-loaded bullion vans in his compound in Lagos State on the eve of the presidential elections in February 2019.

Daily Independent reports that Magu, who held a press conference in Abuja, where he decried the level of corruption in the country, chiefly among the youths who engaged in internet fraud, was asked to update newsmen about what the commission was doing on the petition against Tinubu.

But rather than respond to the question, the EFCC chairman told the reporter who made the inquiry, “You want me to talk about a petition here?” he then said, “Next question please.”

The EFCC under Magu had been accused by some Nigerians, especially members of the opposition political parties of engaging in a lopsided fight against corruption.

Some have continued to wonder why the EFCC is prosecuting the son-in-law of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar, over alleged attempt to distribute money ahead of the same election, but refusing to prosecute Tinubu, who had told newsmen during an interview that the money in the bullion vans belonged to him, and he was free to dispense it to his supporters.
