Okorocha Bombed With $2m Bribe Allegation

Fresh controversy over the conduct of the All Progressives Congress, APC governorship primaries in Imo State in 2018 has arisen after the chairman of the panel who supervised the process, Ahmed Gulak alleged that he was offered $2 million by the then governor of the state, Owelle Rochas Okorocha to deliver his son-in-law and preferred successor, Uche Nwosu.

The allegation is against the background of the drama that ensued at that time which saw Gulak disappearing from Imo State and going to declare the results of the primary in Abuja.

He declared Senator Hope Uzodinma who joined the party weeks earlier as the candidate.

Speaking on the intrigues at that time, Gulak in an interview with the Daily Sun observed that he was induced by the former governor to declare Nwosu the winner.

“I have no regret of any action I took during the primaries I conducted in Imo State. I don’t expect Okorocha to be happy with me, and I did not go there to make him happy anyway.

“I went there to do my job and I did it to be best of my knowledge and ability and I came notwithstanding the tempting offer I refused. I can walk the streets of Imo state including Owerri with my shoulders high.

“I may not be perfect as a human being but I did not go there to make him happy. Somebody who offered me up to $2 million to give certificate of return to his nominee but I turned it down.”

However, Okorocha was quick to take Gulak to the cleaners saying that the Adamawa born politician should have been in a prison in saner societies.

Senator Okorocha speaking through his spokesman, Sam Onwuamedo also told Daily Sun:

“In a country where things work, Gulak should be in prison. We showed a video of what he did when he came to Imo State. It is laughable he is talking about bribe. Nobody can say Okorocha has ever given him or her bribe , so it can’t start with a character like Gulak. He is looking for ways to launder his battered image. He has already destroy his reputation beyond repair.”
