Rep Golu Accepts A/Court Verdict, Wishes Successor Well
Mr Timothy Golu, former member of the House of Representatives, who represented Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal constituency in the eight National Assembly, has congratulated his successor, Yusuf Gagdi.
Golu, who contested on the ticket of the PDP, lost to APC’s Gagdi, whose election was affirmed by the Court of Appeal, Jos on Monday.
In the congratulatory message he sent to his rival shortly after the judgment, Golu wished his successor the best and urged him to strive toward making life better for the constituents.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that Golu had challenged the victory of Gagdi at the National Assembly Election Tribunal and lost.
The tribunal in September dismissed Golu’s petition for lack of merit and declared Gagdi winner of the poll.
Dissatisfied with the decision of the tribunal, Golu approached the Appeal Court, but the court on Monday dismissed his petition and upheld the decision of the tribunal.
Golu described the judgment as “the will of God who never makes mistake”.
He promised to support Gagdi in moving the constituency forward and ensuring quality representation.
“With Jesus’ joy in my heart, I wish to heartily congratulate my brother and friend, Yusuf Gagdi, for emerging victorious at the court of appeal today.
“I take it as the will of the Almighty God who doesn’t make mistakes. Just as God loves me, he loves him too.
“The legal process has come to an end; I must abide by it as a democrat, no matter what I personally feel about it.
“I will give Gagdi my full support,” he declared.
Golu thanked his teeming supporters for standing by him all through the political journey, and urged them to equally support Gagdi to succeed.
