Air Chief Raises Team To Collaborate With Ibeto

The Nigerian Air Force, NAF, will partner with local manufacturing companies in the area of research and development to enhance its operations, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Sadique Abubakar said on Wednesday.

Speaking during a working tour of the headquarters/factory complex of Ibeto Group of Companies in Nnewi, Air Marshall Abubakar said that the decision of the Nigerian Air Force to work with indigenous manufacturing companies was in line with the Federal Government’s vision to encourage indigenous manufacturing companies.

Accompanied by senior Nigerian Air Force officials from South East and Abuja, Air Marshall Abubakar said all hands must be on deck to help the country economically, logistically and otherwise to overcome present challenges.

Speaking on the collaboration between the force and Ibeto, he said:

“Nigerian Air Force and Ibeto Group will raise a technical team that will work together on research and development of logistics and materials for its operational activities and in fighting insurgency in Nigeria.

“We will go into research and development with Ibeto Group to tap from each other on the area of needs, and from what we have seen, there are so much we can do together.”

“We have noted what the company can do in air craft batteries and lubricants and we will go into research and analysis of those products and come up with decisions on how we can help each other”

“We have already directed the Research and Development department of the Air Force to work with you, what we have seen you are producing in Nigeria, we do not have any reason to go out to buy those things.

Earlier in his speech Group Executive Director Operations and Investment, Chief Eze Echesi who was surrounded by senior staff of the company including Acting General Manager Marketing, Ibeto Group and Union Auto Parts Manufacturing Company Limited, Mr. Johnny Ekewuba, thanked the Air Force boss for his commitment to encouraging local  manufacturing companies.

He described Abubakar as the first among the over twenty Chiefs of Air Staff, that has given emphasis on the use of locally manufactured equipment for the operation of Nigerian Air Force actibities.

“We urge you to continue on the use of our products and encourage other to convince the authorities of the sister armed forces in the country to work with locally manufactured products.

“Union Autoparts Manufacturing Company and Ibeto Petrochemical Limited can serve the Nigerian Air Force with its range of batteries and lubricants, and we assure you that we have the best of them to serve you.”
