Ojukwu University Disocciates From Bianca’s ‘Obnoxious’ Attack On Obiano

The Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, COOU has washed itself off the attack directed at Governor Willie Obiano by Bianca Ojukwu, widow of the late Ojukwu at the second memorial lecture organized by the university.

Bianca had at the memorial lecture last Monday slammed Obiano for absenting himself from the two lectures so far organized and of allegedly allowing the legacy of the late Biafran leader to rot away.

However, responding to the defence of the governor on Wednesday, the university slammed Bianca for what it described as her obnoxious language and for supposedly turning the lecture to a political platform.

Responding through the Public Relations Officer of the university, Dr. Christian  Chukwueloka in statement said:

“Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University(COOU) organised the Second Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Annual Memorial Lecture which held on 4th of November, 2019 at the Igbariam campus of the University. The aim of the lecture was to showcase issues of national importance and also to immortalize Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu whose name the university  bears. It has never been a forum for politics or vendetta of any sort.

“The University feels most embarrassed when one of the invitees used the forum to embarrass the Executive Governor of Anambra State who approved the Memorial Lecture and was effectively represented by the Deputy Governor ( His Excellency, Dr. Nkem Okeke )

“The University hereby disassociates   itself from all acts and the obnoxious language used against our Governor and Visitor to the University.

“The University reiterates that the Memorial Lecture is not a political event and must not be seen or taken as such. To turn the Memorial Lecture venue to an avenue to insult our Executive Governor ( His Excellency,  Chief Willie M. Obiano) is most unfortunate and unacceptable to us.

“The Executive Governor,  in the month of June, 2018, instituted the Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Memorial Lecture in honor of our illustrious son and brother of late memory.

“The sponsor of the Memorial Lecture – Rt. Hon. Chinedu Obidigwe is a brother and personal friend of the Governor. The Governor most graciously insisted that the Memorial Lecture must hold annually on the birthday of Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu (Ikemba Nnewi and Eze Igbo Gburugburu).

“We most sincerely appreciate the assistance and support of our Visitor and the Executive Governor and do also reiterate that the statement made against him by our invitees (Mrs. Bianca Ojukwu – widow of Ojukwu) was most unfortunate and does not represent the University’s position in any form.”
