OPC, Agbekoya, Agree To Work With South-West Governors On Operation Amotekun

Gani Adams Reacts As Police Release Detained OPC Members

As cases of insecurity continue to spread across different geo-graphical zones, Odua Peoples, Congress, OPC, and Agbekoya the two leading security outfits in the zone have agreed to work with governors in the zone in the establishment of ‘Operation Amotekun.’.

 Operation Amotekun is a joint security outfit aimed at tackling security challenges in the South-West.

The National Coordinator of OPC, Chief Gani Adams, has said that OPC, Agbekoya security vigilantes and Yoruba Youth Council have agreed to work with the governors in area of personnel.  

 He said leaders of the groups had united to complement the efforts of the security agencies.

 Adams  further stressed that OPC is waiting to know from the governors the number of personnel needed for the proposed outfit. He further disclosed that OPC,

 “These groups have resolved to jointly work together. We have written to the governors, chief security advisers and commissioners of police in the South-West. We are ready to complement the efforts of the security agencies. We have held meetings in Lagos and another one would hold on Wednesday in Ibadan, Oyo State.’’

He urged all Yoruba sons and daughters to support the initiative because it is to the interest of the people of South-West zone.

The Police has also agreed to be part of the initiative as revealed by   Commissioner for Information, Ekiti State, Muyiwa Olumilua,

He said that the police as the leading law enforcement agency in internal security, would play primary roles in the initiative.

He said, “The police are the primary security outfit in the country when it comes to internal security. They will play a major role. They will play a primary role in conjunction with other agencies.”
