WAEC: 52% Credit Score In Private Candidates Exam
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) on Friday disclosed that it was holding the results of 3,659 candidates of the 94,884 candidates who sat for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates 2019 Second Series.
52% of the candidates scored a minimum of five credits in the exam, the authorities announced.
94,884 candidates partook in the examination which took place from August 29 to October 2, 2019.
Addressing a press conference in Lagos on the outcome of the examination, Head of the Nigeria National Office WAEC, Mr. Olu Olanipekun, said that the results of 91,225 candidates had been fully processed.
He said that the results of the remaining 3,659 candidates was being processed.
“The analysis of the statistics of the performance of candidates shows that out of the Ninety-Four Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty-Four (94,884) candidates that sat the examination, 49,679 candidates representing 52.36% obtained credit and above in a minimum of any five (5) subjects (with or without English Language and/or Mathematics.
“33,304 candidates obtained credits and above in a minimum of five (5) subjects including English Language and Mathematics.”
According to him 9,457 candidates were reported to have been engaged in examination malpractice. He said that their cases will be presented to the appropriate Committee of WAEC and the decision on each individual will be communicated to them.
