(Video) Varsity Slaps Indefinite Suspension On Student Bullies

The Federal University of Technology Akure has suspended six students of the institution, who allegedly involved in the beating of a female colleague, indefinitely.
In a video circulated on the social media seen by GreenWhiteGreen, the suspended students, five females and a male were seen beating and assaulting a female colleague, who is reportedly a 100 level student.
The circulated video had become a subject of controversy on the social media especially on Twitter with the hashtag #FUTABullies
The suspended students are Popoola Olaniyi, Oluwadare Faith, Nandi Jessica, Ajuwon Emmanuella, Alao Cecilia and Emmanuel Taiwo
The incident reportedly happened in a students’ hostel outside the campus of the institution.
According to reports, the suspended students, on Saturday, manhandled the victim for alleged gossip about one of them, as the five students descended on the victim while one of them recorded the act and published it on the social media platforms.
The institution, in a statement issued, on Sunday, by its Deputy Director of Corporate Communications, Mr Adegbenro Adebanjo, stated that the six students had been suspended indefinitely, as investigation into the matter had commenced.
According to the statement, the university noted that it would not tolerate indiscipline, stressing that the institution awards certificates in character and learning.
Part of the statement reads:
“Following the ugly incidence of bullying of a female student by some students and as a result of a preliminary investigation, the students have been placed on indefinite suspension with effect from Monday, November 17, 2019.
“As a consequence of their suspension, they are precluded from all academic-related activities indefinitely and barred from the university and its precincts forthwith.
“At the conclusion of the ongoing investigations the full weight of the law of the university, as contained in the handbooks and oath of matriculation which all students are made to sign and subscribe to, will be visited on those found culpable.”
