Mourinho Named Tottenham Manager
By Emmanuel Aziken, Editor
Jose Mourinho who came to international renown as manager of Chelsea has been appointed Tottenham manager, succeeding Mauricio Pochettino who was sacked on Tuesday.
He brings a cultural change to a club not known to his style of high spending attitude on players and exhibitionism.
He, however, brings the expectation of hope for silverware to a club that has repeatedly disappointed in that realm despite the reputation of being one of England’s best-disciplined teams.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy who on Tuesday reluctantly sacked Pochettino said: “In Jose we have one of the most successful managers in football.”
Mourinho on his part said: “The quality in both the squad and the academy excites me,” “Working with these players is what has attracted me.”
“He (Mourinho) has a wealth of experience, can inspire teams and is a great tactician.
“He has won honours at every club he has coached. We believe he will bring energy and belief to the dressing room.”
Mourinho won three Premier League titles and one FA Cup in two spells at Chelsea. He also picked the Europa League and Carabao Cup with Manchester United.
